The Story of the 3 Little Chefs
Once upon a time there were three beautiful and talented children. They lived, happily, with their Mom and Dad in a nice house on a grassy hill surrounded by wildflowers. Old Mr. Sun was a good friend. You see, the sun was old and wise and he was also a fantastic baker. He used his incredible warmth and goodness to create all kinds of yummies and goodies that he shared with everyone. He sent them down in his special sunrays, so that they were warm and delicious when his friends ate them. Now Mom and Dad loved their kids and were worried because the children were afraid to try new things. They had no confidence and were afraid they would fail. Mom and Dad knew this had to change so, they decided to have the children go visit the wise old sun for the afternoon.
After the kids told him all of their worries, instead of solving the problem, he said, "Let’s bake!" The children were confused but, they trusted the sun and did as he asked. The Sun showed them how to gather everything they needed, he also showed them how to properly measure and mix. He also taught them how to be safe and careful but, most importantly he taught them to work together. He made games out of some of the tasks and that made the children happy to help and learn. While the yummies and goodies baked in the sun’s warmth and goodness, they cleaned up.
When all the treats were done the kids helped load them into the Sun’s rays and watched as the sun shared all the yummies and goodies with his friends. Then the sun sat the children down and asked them if they knew what they had done. They seemed a bit unsure so, the sun explained. He said, “You have just spent the afternoon making people happy and hearts warm. You worked together, followed the rules and the recipes and with a few raw ingredients, a little patience and lots of creativity you made the most wonderful treats."
"If you could accomplish all of that in one afternoon imagine what you could do with the rest of your life. You are the 3 Little Chefs!” At that moment the children understood what the sun meant and why their parents had let them take that long journey. They were filled with confidence. They realized that life was a lot like baking. You have to choose your ingredients carefully like patience, kindness, faith, joy and wisdom. Measure and mix them carefully, follow the rules and you will create love and happiness. Share what you have with everyone you care about and you will have a good, happy and successful life. The kids were no longer afraid to try new things, get messy and be creative. They were not the best at everything but they were successful at trying everything and that made them very happy children and most importantly, successful, confident adults.
