Oatmeal Cookie History

In the late 1800’s high quality oats were being produced by several Midwestern millers. These millers brought their expertise together to found the Quaker Oats Company. In 1855, the Quaker Oats company packaged oatmeal in square boxes and sold them in bulk. In 1908, the Quaker Oats Company became the first to publish Quaker® cakes which is known as the first oatmeal cookie recipe to appear on an oatmeal box.
