It is believed that the brownie was an accident created when a cook failed to add baking powder to a chocolate cake batter. The cake did not rise and created a rich dense fudgy-chocolate “brownie”. Oh what a happy accident! The name brownie comes from the deep-brown color. The first published brownie recipe appeared in a Sears, Roebuck and Company catalog in 1897.

There are enough dry ingredients in the 3 Little Chefs Fudge Brownie Mix package to make one 8 x 8 inch pan of brownies. You only have to provide the wet and dairy ingredients. This not only provides an opportunity to be creative but, also to teach the basics of cooking. Children will learn to measure and use kitchen utensils. It is also an opportunity to enhance their educational skills.
